I am reminded daily of how important our health is. That no one can take care of our bodies besides our own self.
We all seem to be running short on time, short on energy , short on patience. Meanwhile our bodies seem to need more and more nourishment to stay healthy in our modern world.
Herbs are powerful allies in boosting immunity, cleansing our systems, supporting our organs, balancing hormones - Basically they are the gift from Divine Source meant to keep our bodies going.
I love herbal supplements - but I forget to take them. I love herbal tea - but how much tea can you drink in a day?
Tinctures can be costly or take awhile to prepare.
I just started an herbalist certification course and my last homework provided me with a great solution for busy folks trying to stay well.
Tonic Balls. What? I know - I never heard of them either.
A tonic ball is made with herbs bound together with nut butter and other yummy stuff.
You can try it out with any ground or dried herbs that you are using to harmonize your health.
A short list of tonic herbs that you can use are: barley grass, slippery elm, dandelion leaf (or root), burdock root, parsley.
My dad recently passed and both my mom is preparing for hip surgery. I wanted to make a tonic ball that would help ease our anxiety, uplift our mood, decrease inflammation and increase circulation so the herbs I selected were rosemary, catnip, maca root, white willow bark and slippery elm.
I used about 2 T of each of the herbs I selected and combined them with 1/2 cup of tahini, 1 cup cashew butter, 2 tablespoons honey, 6 pureed dates, and 8 oz. of finely chopped dried cherries. I chilled the mixture so it would ball up easier and then dipped the balls in white chocolate and rolled them in toasted coconut with ground macadamia nuts.
So good, so easy, stores for months in the refrigerator and is ready to go when you are.
A great way to give a nutritional boost to your diet.
